Trump and Clinton: A Comparison of Second Amendment Policy

Dr. John Lott will address the Presidential candidates' positions on the second amendment and gun control, as well as his latest research on gun violence, gun control advocacy and gun owners' rights advocacy.

John R. Lott, Jr. is the president of the Crime Prevention Research Center and an economist who has held research and/or teaching positions at the University of Chicago, Yale University, Stanford, UCLA, Wharton, and Rice, and was the chief economist at the United States Sentencing Commission during 1988 and 1989.  He has published over 100 articles in academic journals.  He also is the author of nine books of which his most recent is The War on Guns: Arming Yourself Against Gun Control Lies. To quote one of his book reviewers, "In his usual fashion, John goes past the usual talking points which infest cable television debates and takes on some of the most sacred cows of the gun control lobby, tossing their filleted remains straight onto the grill."

His past books have included three editions of More Guns, Less Crime, Freedomnomics, and Dumbing Down the Courts: How Politics Keeps the Smartest Judges off the Bench.  Opinion pieces by Lott have appeared in such places as The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, The New York Post, USA Today, and The Chicago Tribune. He has appeared on such television programs as the ABC and NBC National Evening News broadcasts, Fox News, PBS's "The News Hour," and "The Today Show," and on nationally syndicated radio programs.  He received his Ph.D. in economics from UCLA in 1984.
