FEC&lt;/em&gt;&lt;/strong&gt;. Presently, Professor Caso is a solo practitioner at the Law Office of Anthony T. Caso in Sacramento, California, where he practices appellate litigation with a concentration on complex statutory and constitutional issues. Professor Caso's litigation experience includes successful cases at every level of the state and federal court system, including the California Supreme Court and the United States Supreme Court. Professor Caso is also an Adjunct Professor of State Constitutional Law at McGeorge School of Law and an adjunct professor at the University of San Francisco, College of Professional Studies. Since 2001, Professor Caso has served as a Master of the Bench for the Anthony M. Kennedy Inn of Court and is active in the Federalist Society Free Speech and Election Law Practice Group, Federalist Society of Sacramento, and the Boy Scouts of America. Professor Caso has also given presentations in front of the Federal Bar Association and the Milton Schwartz American Inn of Court.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Guest: Judge James Rogan: &lt;/strong&gt;Prior to his original appointment to the bench by Governor Deukmejian in 1990, Judge Rogan was a gang murder prosecutor in the Los Angeles County District Attorney's office; California Lawyer Magazine named him as one of the state's most effective prosecutors. After he resigned from the bench in 1994, Judge Rogan won election to the California State Assembly, where he later served as majority leader. Elected to the United States House of Representatives in 1996, he was Assistant Majority Whip. A member of both the House Commerce Committee and the House Judiciary Committee, Judge Rogan was one of the lead prosecutors in the United States Senate impeachment trial of President Clinton in 1998-1999. Judge Rogan later served as U.S. Under Secretary of Commerce for Intellectual Property and as Director of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Judge Rogan returned to private law practice in 2004; in 2006 Governor Schwarzenegger appointed him to the Superior Court of California. In 2007 President Bush nominated him to be a federal judge for the United States District Court for the Central District of California; his nomination is pending currently before the United States Senate. Judge Rogan earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California at Berkeley and his Juris Doctor from UCLA School of Law, where he served on the UCLA Law Review. Stockton Chair of International Law at the U.S. Naval War College in Newport, Rhode Island. A veteran of two Army tours in Vietnam, he served as a Research Associate and Public Affairs Fellow at Stanford's Hoover Institution on War, Revolution and Peace before spending five years in the mid-1970s as national security adviser to Senator Robert P. Griffin, a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. He has also served in the Pentagon as Special Assistant to the Under Secretary of Defense for Policy, in the White House as Counsel to the President's Intelligence Oversight Board, at the State Department as Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for Legislative Affairs, and as the first President of the congressionally established United States Institute of Peace.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:arial;font-size:85%;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;A former three-term chairman of the ABA Standing Committee on Law and National Security (and for many years editor of the ABA National Security Law Report), Prof. Turner has taught undergraduate courses at Virginia on international law, U.S. foreign policy, the Vietnam War, and foreign policy and the law in the Woodrow Wilson Department of Government and Foreign Affairs, in addition to co-teaching with Moore the law school seminars Advanced Topics in National Security Law I &amp;amp; II. The author or editor of more than a dozen books and monographs (including coeditor of the Center's National Security Law and National Security Law Documents) and numerous articles in law reviews and professional journals, Prof. Turner has also contributed articles to most of the major U.S. newspapers and has testified before more than a dozen different congressional committees on issues of international or constitutional law and related topics.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Prof. Turner is a member of the Committee on the Present Danger, the Council on Foreign Relations, and other professional organizations. He received his J.D.from Yale Law School, where he was an articles editor of the Yale Law Journal. He then clerked for Judge Laurence H. Silberman of the U.S. Court of Appeals of the D.C. Circuit. Professor Yoo joined the Boalt faculty in 1993, then clerked for Justice Clarence Thomas of the U.S. Supreme Court. He served as general counsel of the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee from 1995-96. From 2001 to 2003, he served as a deputy assistant attorney general in the Office of Legal Counsel at the U.S. Department of Justice, where he worked on issues involving foreign affairs, national security and the separation of powers. Professor Yoo has received the Paul M. Bator Award for excellence in legal scholarship and teaching from the Federalist Society for Law and Public Policy. He has published articles about foreign affairs, international law and constitutional law in a number of the nation's leading law journals. In past years, he has also taught Corporate Finance, Securities Regulation, Mergers and Acquisitions, and seminars on corporate governance. Prof. Bainbridge has written more than 50 monographs for legal journals, including such leading publications as the Harvard Law Review, the Virginia Law Review, the Northwestern University Law Review, the Cornell Law Review, the Stanford Law Review and the Vanderbilt Law Review. He has also written a number of legal textbooks. From the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) provisions – to constitutional full-faith-and-credit-clause ramifications -- to equal protection and state fairness/discrimination issues -- there is much to contemplate. Dean McConville and Jordan Lorence will present these issues from their perspectives on either side of this debate.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:arial;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-size:85%;"&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Dean Celestine McConville&lt;/strong&gt; - Dean McConville joined the Chapman Law faculty as an Associate Professor in August 2000. She clerked for Chief Justice William H. Rehnquist and also served as clerk to Judge Cynthia Holcomb Hall on the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, and for Judge Donald C. Nugent on the United States District Court for the Northern District of Ohio. Before coming to Chapman, she was a visiting faculty member at Case Western Reserve School of Law, where she received the Student Bar Association's Teacher of the Year award for 1999. She earned her J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center, graduating magna cum laude in the top one percent of her class. She was selected for Order of the Coif and was editor for the Georgetown Law Journal's Criminal Procedure Project. Dean McConville practiced law as an associate with Shea &amp;amp; Gardner in Washington, D.C.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Jordan Lorence, Esq&lt;/strong&gt;. - A graduate of Stanford University, Jordan W. Lorence earned his juris doctor at the University of Minnesota Law School. After graduation from law school he served as a staff attorney for the Minnesota State Senate. He began practicing law in 1981, specializing in constitutional law. He spent several years working with public interest organizations and is now a litigation attorney for the Alliance Defense Fund. Prior to joining the Chapman Law faculty in August 1999, he served as a law clerk with Justice Clarence Thomas at the Supreme Court of the United States and with Judge J. Michael Luttig at the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. After his clerkships, Dr. Eastman practiced with the national law firm of Kirkland &amp;amp; Ellis, specializing in major civil and constitutional litigation at both the trial and appellate levels. Dr. Eastman earned his J.D. from the University of Chicago Law School, where he graduated with high honors in 1995. Dr. Eastman also has a Ph.D. and M.A. in Government from the Claremont Graduate School, with fields of concentration in Political Philosophy, American Government, Constitutional Law, and International Relations. Prior to law school, he served as the Director of Congressional &amp;amp; Public Affairs at the United States Commission on Civil Rights during the Reagan administration and was the 1990 Republican Nominee for Congress in California’s 34th District.
